If the Lord were going to give you one great gift in your life what would it be?

Would it be riches?

Would it be fame?

Would it be power?

Would it be confidence?

Would it be comfort?

Or would He give you the ability to save?

It has taken me 59 years of my life to recognize that He has given me the greatest gift of all.  Through all the hardships of family, work and life, He has always given me the opportunity to serve, and save.

My wife will tell you that she was in a bad place when we met. She will say that I rescued her.  I feel it is the other way around. In essence, with His help, we saved each other.

My children are adopted and came from unfortunate backgrounds. He gave us the opportunity to save them from the life that would have been much less.

We have an amateur animal rescue were we have saved animals of many kinds who would have been doomed. They now get to live out their lives with food, stability, and comfort.

And as a chiropractor, I get to serve and save people every day.  Although they may not always know what would have followed, I am blessed to know that an adjustment changes the course of their life from that point forward.

All of these things do not always bring material rewards. There are many times in my life when I questioned these choices and asked why it was so hard.  But now I know that the things of this world were not the promise He made to me.  I now know that the gift I have been given was far greater that I could ever imagine.  

I am thankful that I have had the blessing of being able to save.
